A "how to" guide for writers.
Writers of drama across multiple platforms are no longer restricted to the limitations of a single medium – which allows a freedom to consider story structure in a truly multi-media, multi-faceted way. Our narrative toolkit provides the framework and understanding our clients and partners need to create connected experiences for writing on a range of platforms including Online, TV, Mobile, Film, Radio Drama and Novel.
Key elements we can help you address;
- Great story. A fantastic narrative is absolutely the key - without which it will fail. If the story isn’t incredibly gripping, compelling or well plotted it won’t work
- Structure - linear non linear is it a single linear story or is it like a jigsaw – multiple parts that when put together make a whole picture
- Audience role – passive? interactive? immersive? Must they unlock elements? Submit content? Dictate the story? Be in a certain place, time? Work together?
What draws us in and keeps us engaged with the story? Is it sticky gaming mechanics? (the things that make it addictive)
- Dramatic hooks, catches and cliff hangers? Do we care?
- Perfect medium to tell each of the story elements,– is it audio, visual, image, location, photo, text, game experience..........? is it different for every scene?
- Use of the right platform for your story are we going on line and global or to a location on your phone?
- Who is the audience? And why will they engage?
- Use of the right technology that works as it needs to.
Case Study. We are currently developing writers skills and knowledge, collaborating with the National Theatre of Scotland - training writers from theatre, radio and TV in our digital and narrative toolkits towards a multi-platform site specific interactive drama experience, in 2010 and 2011.
In 2010 We have commissioned a pool of writers who have great ideas and want to push the boundaries. We will be organising events and activities to find more......... watch this space.
